Nvariant helps you create step-by-step demos of websites.

Important: The extension only collects data when you actively start a recording session. When recording is off, no data is collected.

We protect your privacy. We minimize data collection.

Information We Collect

Data collection only happens when you actively start recording. When recording is off, we collect nothing.

1. During Recording

When you record a demo, we collect:

• Screenshots of the pages you visit
• Page text and structure
• Your clicks and interactions
• Page URLs you visit during recording

All demo data stays on your computer by default. It is stored locally in your browser.

2. Account Information

If you create an account, we collect your email and name. This is optional.

3. Optional Upload

You can choose to upload your demos to our servers. This lets you view, edit, and share them online. You can turn off uploads anytime. All data stays local if you don't upload.

Uploaded data is stored on secure servers. You can delete it anytime.

What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not record audio or video.
• We do not record your keystrokes.
• We do not track your browsing when recording is off.
• We do not run in the background.
• We do not sell your data.
• We do not collect data when you're not recording.

Analytics

When someone views a shared demo, we collect basic information:

• How many times the demo was viewed
• What device and browser was used
• Approximate location (country only)

This helps demo creators see how their demos are used. We don't use ads or tracking services.

Demo creators can delete this analytics data anytime.

Note: Analytics only applies to shared demos. It does not apply to the extension itself.

Chrome Extension Permissions

The extension needs these permissions to work:

• Page access – to see the page you're recording
• Scripting – to capture your clicks and interactions
• Screenshots – to take pictures of pages
• Storage – to save your demos on your computer
• Notifications – to tell you if something goes wrong

These permissions only work when you're actively recording. When recording is off, the extension does nothing.

You Control Your Data

• Delete demos anytime.
• Turn off uploads to keep everything on your computer.
• Uninstall the extension to remove all local data.
• Export your data if you want a backup.
• Delete analytics data if you're a demo creator.

Children's Privacy

This extension is not for children under 13. We don't collect information from children.

We may update this policy as the product changes. We'll post updates on this page.
